|The Optics Department is primarily dedicated to achieve basic and applied scientific research in Optics as in Optoelectronics, as well as human resources formation at M.Sc. and Ph.D. level. The academic program has more than 30 years of experience with more than 115 graduates at M.Sc. and 27 Ph.D. The department’s main lines of investigation are lasers, non-lineal optics, optic fibers and guides, quantic optics, diffraction and diffraction grating of light and image-processing.
The department counts with an excellent faculty of 20 scientific researchers, all of them with Ph.D. With three of them on Level III on the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores (SNI), and nine level II.
There are several well-equipped laboratories with optic tables, various types of lasers and specialized optic and electronics equipment.
